Use the matching row. Start the message with: Dear Assemblymember [Last Name]:

Click Contact on the website and use the official form. That is the message that gets logged as constituent mail.

Step 3. Send the email

  1. Copy your constituent letter.
  2. Fill in your name, city, and Assembly district number.
  3. Use this subject line: Please Support an Orange County E-Bike Safety Pilot Bill
  4. Paste the letter into the message box.
  5. Submit the form.

Keep the greeting simple. Do not address the letter to "District Director" unless you are following up with a specific staff person.

Too many residents think e-bikes are only a city or police problem. They are not. Cities and police must operate within state law. This is an Orange County problem and a Sacramento problem.

Marin County already did the work. In 2024, Assemblymember Damon Connolly authored AB 1778, the Marin Electric Bicycle Safety Pilot Program, allowing Marin County to adopt common-sense e-bike rules that meet its local needs.

San Diego County already did the work. In 2024, Assemblymember Tasha Boerner authored AB 2234, the San Diego Electric Bicycle Safety Pilot Program, allowing San Diego County to adopt common-sense e-bike rules that meet its local needs.

Orange County is asking for the same tool. I respectfully request that you convene the Orange County Assembly delegation and author or co-author an Orange County Electric Bicycle Safety Pilot Bill.

Please give Orange County the authority to adopt common-sense e-bike laws that address the needs of our county, instead of relying on 34 different city-by-city solutions or a wait-and-see statewide process that leaves us behind Marin and San Diego.

Please let your constituents know which member will carry the bill and when the delegation will meet to discuss it.
